About Us

"A school is a building with tomorrow inside," Dr. John Stallings said when our school was dedicated in 1972. "A school is an idea. It is love--with a lump in your throat.” At Stallings Elementary school, I am confident that our staff embraces the sentiments of Dr. Stallings, and we honor his memory as we work together in providing our students an environment in which they feel safe, cared for, and motivated to learn. As I walk about our campus, it is my belief that our students feel good about being at school. On the playground I see happy faces and I am continually greeted with excited “hellos.” I attribute this “feeling” to the kindness and respect I see from our entire staff towards the students and on the shared belief that all of our students are our responsibility.

To provide the highest quality education for our diverse student population, we are proud of the many and varied educational programs we have developed and put into place. Our highly qualified teaching staff works collaboratively in their grade level teams analyzing student work and assessment data in order to meet the needs of our learners. Together they have found value in sharing successes, and new ideas. As a result of this collaboration, our grade level teams have implemented innovative strategies to address the various learning styles of our students. At many grade levels, students are rotating between the grade level teachers who teach a subject they are extremely passionate about to all groups of this grade level. Additionally, as an entire staff, we have identified an academic school goal of increasing reading comprehension in all grade levels. We have implemented a school- wide Accelerated Reading incentive program that has our students excited about reading. To address the needs of our large English Language Learner population, and to close the achievement gap, we have implemented several programs. Extended kinder, and grade level interventions are helping to target specific standards. Etc…

Our staff and students have embraced the value in participating in the 100 Mile Club for the past years. We are grateful for the support of our parents and our PTA in sponsoring many fundraisers that allow us the opportunity to participate in this program.

We are proud to be able to provide an after school program for our students. Our ASES program allows a large percent of our student population a safe place to be after school. The combination of academic and enrichment provided by the ASES program serves our students well.

Additionally, we recognize and value the importance that our parents and extended families have in the academic success and well being of our students. As a result, increasing family involvement is a priority and our 2nd school goal at Stallings Elementary School. In an effort to achieve this goal, we have several “Family Literacy Fridays” on our master calendar.
